Under the Boardwalk, Down by the Sea...

When I read a story, setting is everything to me. In fact, some of the places and sights on my bucket list are straight out of books I’ve read. So when I thought of the idea for Never Stop Falling, I knew that the story had to take place in my hometown of Santa Cruz, California. Some of my fondest memories are from the time I spent there, and if I could have it my way, I'd buy one of those little Victorian houses on Cliff Drive, with a porch that wraps around the front and overlooks the Pacific. That's what I love about this beach town; no matter what decade we’re in, no amount of time can take away that old world charm that Santa Cruz is known for. With its marigold sunsets and stretches of beach, this town is the ideal backdrop for the perfect romance.

A few weeks ago, my sister and her husband drove down to Los Angeles to visit me and made a detour through Santa Cruz, as well as some other notable landmarks in my story. She documented her tribute with these photos! For those of you who’ve read ARC copies of the book, you might recognize a few of these places! And for those who have yet to read it, here’s a little preview of Nick and Cori’s neck of the woods:

The famous Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk...

The Famous Boardwalk

The Dream Inn, a landmark hotel...

The beatnik coffee spot, Caffe Pergolessi...

The Bixby Bridge at Big Sur...

Keyhole Rock...

McWay Falls...
